Grand Rapids-based queer artist Violet Love, aka Autumn Grandos, has released their debut EP. The Latin American artist is known for creating an emotionally raw blend of emo pop rock, glitch, and hyperpop. Autumn began playing music at the age of 8 and joined several bands by 13. They love embodying a DIY punk ethos—writing, recording, and mixing music independently from a bedroom setup. Drawing inspiration from punk, folk, and hyperpop, Violet turns personal turmoil into a sonic reflection. Their music is relatable and a true representation of an honest life.

“Destined to Fail” is an honest portrayal of imperfection, raw feelings, and unpolished texture.

Their new EP “Destined to Fail” explores trauma, self-reflection, and the human tendency to break and rebuild. Written, recorded, and mixed entirely in Violet’s bedroom, with professional mastering support, the collection reflects their DIY approach. The lesson of accepting failure as inevitable but transformative carries a haunting intimacy. The opening track, “Serpent,” stands out as a visceral portrait of betrayal. With heavy distortion and emotional vocals, the track creates a twisting atmosphere.

“Apple” plays with ideas of temptation, guilt, and renewal, layered with shimmering hyperpop beats and vocal manipulation that blur beauty with chaos. “Love” closes the EP with stripped-down vulnerability, echoing self-acceptance and healing through pain. Through cascading emotions, rough textures, and immersive narration, “Destined to Fail” is a raw portrayal of human feelings rooted in the heart. It’s Violet Love’s finest attempt at emotive storytelling in the form of a full-circle EP.
