An Embrace of Past all of us seek out for, ‘After’ by ‘Pharen’ is a reminder to Let it Flow..
A compelling solo-project of London-based artist Seamus O’Dwyer, Pharen is a power-packed force in the music space. Following the release of his debut single ‘It’s Routine’, the artist has now ventured and evolved his music composition style gradually rather than confirming to genre expectations. From prioritizing creative exploration over commercial hit machine music to sourcing talent online, O’Dwyer works from the comfort of his home studio using Ableton and crafts thoughtfully curated sonic landscapes that we know. For this particular release however, he has primarily chosen to go solo; single-handedly crafting and managing the songwriting, production and creative direction process. This new release is a passion-project under the name ‘Pharen’ that has been diligently crafted over 6 months. While it also showcases a relentless amount of artists O’Dwyer has collaborated with. Without any further ado, let's dive right into it.

Brief moments of escapism and fluidity wrapped into soft alt-rock numbers and velvety vocals, this entire album feels like a warm hug.
What starts off as a dystopian encounter with life, ‘Dover’ is a soft, mellow and mysterious moment we start this soul-stirring journey with. It is soft, easy on the ears and has got a retro vibe to this that somehow teleports you to the golden age of the 90s. As this starts one would think it's daunting, but the chorus makes it a track that you simply cannot get enough of. Then we transition to ‘Rituals’, which is an even more softer, gentle and dreamy vacation all of us secretly crave for. Its a surreal piano song that makes you escape your current reality. ‘Cigarette Burn’ on the other hand makes your mind wander into a quite room no one knows, and all it asks you is to take a step back, and breathe, breathe loudly, and feel it in your chest. This song also personifies the feeling of solitude and a lost sense of nostalgia, and feels like a deep sense of reminiscing what’s long gone.
‘Jimmy’s Lighthouse’, feels like a song straight from the early 2000s. What feels like a ray of sunshine slowly peeping through the clouds after a long and tiring day, this would instantly instill peace and positivity in your heart. However, the mood shifts at ‘Time to Panic’. Somehow more energetically different and fast-paced than all of the tracks we’ve seen so far, this is a captive moment of storytelling that feels like a slow-burn. Welcoming a subtle wave of melancholia, this invites you to daydream but also feels a little eerie and daunting, and something I can definitely see healing you when you’re emotionally overwhelmed. ‘This City’, on the contrary, is a sad person’s paradise. Sometimes we go through a sulking feeling we’re unable to describe, this explains exactly that. On and all I have to say this album is warm, cozy and extremely pacifying. I personally loved this and I believe so will you.
