The young enchantress Sophia Stephens has finally ventured into the genre of rock with her brand new tune compilation 'Love & Grief'! A prodigy hailing from Indiana, Sophia is an 18-year-old independent singer-songwriter we have always adored. Known for her wide variety of musical influences, the maestro has written over 500 songs. From reviewing her singles to finally getting a chance to review her first LP album, we've surely come a long way with Sophia! Let's take a deep dive into this latest release!
Tearing down the bright-colored pages with nothing but grief, yearning and loud nostalgia, this is an artistic masterpiece.
We start this love paranoia with the daunting notions of 'Muscle Memory'. A track about the undying memories that succumb to excruciating pain after they find out that the person is nothing like they perceived them to be. Back with her graceful ballads with 'Up in Flames', this number perfectly summarizes the distorted hurricane effect the heartbreak has had on the artist. Hoping she could run away from this tragic ending, she realizes that it's inevitable.
The title-themed track feels like an extension of the emotions conveyed in the previous track. Another track that caught my eye was 'Little Things'. A romantic memoir that romanticizes those tiny observations the artist made while falling in love, this captures the essence of purity that is associated with the bond. Asking relentless questions, from the beloved taking her coat to taking her heart, this is perfection. The tracks 'Time Passes By' and 'I'm Still Here' encapsulate the dogma this shattered bond has left on her, leaving her poise mind with nothing but misery. Out of all the tracks so far, there isn't a single track that blows one's mind away. Sophia has the power to move hearts from her art, and there's nothing more beautiful than that.
