Beauty, Solidarity and Undeniable Peace: Fish and Scale’s ‘Elf’ is a Profound Poetic Masterpiece
Thriving on the simple principles of 'music knows no language, place or religion', Roland Wälzlein, popularly regarded as Fish and Scale, have got a lot of gigs and guitar melodies coming up and this is just the start to their fame. While the stomach is the key to heart, Roland supports that true, unfiltered authentic music leads straight to the heart of the listener. As someone whose artistry spans across multiple genres like rock, indie, and soulful pop, Fish and Scale’s artistry is usually also attributed to a bunch of different sonic flavors and vibes, like a fine blend of soulful, powerful, subtle and poetic, but all and all pushes its listeners to find a deeper sense of meaning behind their existence on this planet, which in itself is damn impressive and breathtaking. Without any further ado, let's now begin to test the waters of this impactful release.

What starts off at a profound note of silence and resonance, and soon transitions into this beautiful serendipity of pure romantic yearning, this feels like the inherent emotion of love that sits deep inside all of us.
Starting off strong with the indie-acoustic symphonies of ‘Tapestry’, we break the silence with soft lullabies like emotive vocals and subtle guitars. Through this, the artist clearly tries to establish a visual connotation, making your mind run in circles with him as he expresses his relentless longing and desire to be chosen again. ‘Letter from Paulus’ however, runs a little more picturesque and deep, and feels like a deeper foot in the waters of Fish and Scale’s mind. This makes you think about the dogma of love, how not knowing in romance is a bigger reason for why the outer skeletons of fame and false stories inevitably break down to nothing. Reminding you to pause, reflect, this is full of thought-inducing melancholia that feels like a breaking out of a personality crisis, and absolutely stunning.
From questioning the never-ending tales of thou holy in ‘Holy Man’ to making you feel a groovy and pulsating rush of electric guitars in ‘She Says’, you experience a complete and holistic 360 degrees into indie or alt rock’s depth and feels extremely special because of all the thoughtful stories it weaves. ‘Song of a Life’ however feels like a time-traveling back to the time when we were kids, A beauty seen through the naked eye but critiqued soo much more for its ambiguity and vigilance, this is heart-warming. On and all, I loved this album personally and I believe there’s so much to uncover within the realm of this album, and we believe you’ll also see lots of value in this.
