Lateral Root is the solo electronic project of Bristol-based composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Tom Quick. Tom brings years of experience from the sync music world, with tracks placed across TV, films, and media globally. He has toured as a keyboardist with respected acts like Nightmares on Wax and Mozez (Zero 7), grounding his electronic work in real, live-performance energy. Lateral Root is where Tom steps away from client briefs and explores his love for atmospheric, cinematic, and emotionally moving electronic music. His sound is influenced by artists like Rival Consoles, Floating Points, Four Tet, Ólafur Arnalds, and Robag Wruhme.

“Lateral Root makes electronic music that flows gently, pulls you in, and stays with you.”

“Sunlight” is an under-the-radar gem that you would not regret finding. The track blends lush atmospheric textures with subtle yet infectious EDM groove that gently pulls you in. The song carries a sense of longing, calm reflection, and quiet hope. Analogue synths, software, and outboard gear come together to give the track warmth and depth without overproduction. Rather than chasing drops, “Sunlight” focuses on gradual build-ups and immersive flow. It’s that kind of track that works equally well on headphones, late-night drives, or zoning out with your thoughts.
