James Percival, a rising artist from Birmingham, England, is ready to take you on an emotional journey with his new EP, “Curtains Closed.” Inspired by some of the most legendary artists like Lewis Capaldi, Fontaines D.C., and Tigran Hamasyan, James creates music that pierces through the heart. With deep emotional value, interwoven with heartfelt lyrics, his songs are not just a musical note but a purpose-driven agenda. Often blending elements of indie pop, alternative rock, and mellow, therapeutic jazz, Percival tries to put his emotions unfiltered. His recent EP, “Curtains Closed,” is a standing testament to his effort to craft raw and meaningful music for the audiences to take some learnings out of it.

"Curtains Closed" by James Percival carries you through the quiet storm of sorrow, full of miseries, pain and little hope.

“Curtains Closed” is particularly close to James' heart, as he narrates a true story of a year and half of grief and the pain of witnessing distress. His sister’s struggle with a chronic health condition turned their lives into a series of hardships and dwindling hope, but not without resilience. The EP dives deep into these issues and urges listeners to pause, reflect and find solace in testing times. The title track, “Curtains Closed,” is calming yet full of grief, followed by “Insane,” a sonically haunting piece heavy with drums and emotional intensity. ”Too good to be true,” presents a lyrical overload, blending spoken-word dialogue with raw vulnerability, while “What am I supposed to feel?” becomes a void-laden symphony, offering a peek into the state of mind. While these tracks capture the essence of agony and grief through lyrics, “Disembodied” makes you feel the heart-ache through its competition. This EP is more than a collection of songs—it’s an open journal of pain, resilience and healing, urging listeners to not loose hope and take care of their loved ones in tough times.
