The alternative rock band from Scranton, Pennsylvania has released their EP “First Stage Separation.” Started in 2016 as Ed Cuozzo’s solo project, it grew into a five-member band with Ryan Grutt (bass/vocals), Tony Kruszka (drums), Angelo Maruzzelli (guitar, vocals), & Mark Naples (guitar). Their music takes inspiration from artists like Thrice, Jimmy Eat World, and Failure, blending chaotic energy with pop-driven melodies. Their latest EP “First Stage Separation” was recorded live to tape at Electrical Audio in Chicago with Greg Norman, staying true to their raw, authentic live sound.

“First Stage Separation” captures the true chaos and beauty of University Drive.

“First Stage Separation” is a six-song EP that reflects the band’s most collaborative work to date. “Forget Me, Not” opens with a brooding intensity of layered guitars, balanced with emotionally vulnerable lyrics about memory and loss. “Hollow Sweetness” shows how the members of University Drive can take raw chaos and shape it into something strikingly melodic. “Decades Lost” reveals just how explosive and dynamic the band can be, while showcasing their love for dwelling in a darker mood.”

“All The Way Down” compliments “Decades Lost” with its dark theme, explosive cut, and dynamic guitar riffs, transitioning smoothly to give a descending end. “Spin Out” captures the feeling of unraveling with its musical oscillations. “Final Flash” is a cinematic closer with swirling guitars and pounding drums with powerful vocal delivery. What’s unique about this EP is that every member has contributed to arrangements and songwriting, making it a collaborative success. By stripping back studio polish and recording live, the band showcases their true talent and puts it out loud in front of the world.
