Award-winning jazz vocalist Ed Thompson, famously known as Crooner Ed, has released his latest album, which explores the meaning of life musically. Known for creating timeless classic hits, he has reimagined tracks from legends like Sinatra and Bublé while also composing his own enchanting originals. He is a songwriter with cross-genre credibility, blending jazz sensibilities with storytelling rooted in everyday realism. Over the years, he has collaborated with globally acclaimed artists and orchestrators, including jazz pianist John Colianni and Bob Krogstad, the renowned arranger for Mel Tormé and Natalie Cole.

"Crooner Ed turns decades of life, laughter, and lived-in wisdom into smooth jazz storytelling that feels effortlessly personal."
His latest album comprises ten songs that beautifully describe the ups and downs, wins and losses, and to-and-fros of life. The title track, “Amazing, Awful, Ordinary Life” sets the album thesis, finding meaning in life’s contradictions. The track beautifully conveys the true meaning of life with enchanting vocals and a peaceful rhythm. “I Like The Way You Walk” functions as a playful, intimate love letter with classic romantic charm. “Why Does Everything Hurt?” leans into self-aware humor, resonating strongly with themes of aging and resilience. “I Wish I Knew” stands out emotionally, driven by reflective lyrics and smooth jazz restraint. “What A Ride” captures gratitude and perspective, balancing optimism with lived weariness.
Where “Coffee Talks With Dad” delivers tender storytelling, “All We Really Want” explores emotional simplicity beneath life’s chaos in a very nuanced way. “Fatter Friends” injects levity and wit, using humor as both commentary and connection. “Seize Today” reinforces the album’s carpe diem philosophy without sounding preachy. “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” closes the album with a tribute to jazz tradition. The collection of songs blends smooth jazz textures with swinging big-band accents. Overall, the album balances humor, reflection, romance, and realism without tonal imbalance.
