Blurring the lines between Realism and Fantasy, Marble Boy’s ‘Creatures of the Forest’ feels straight out of a Fairytale
Serving as a captivating intro to the upcoming album release, ‘Creatures of the Forest’ by Marble Boy is parts compelling and parts surprising, and is bound to leave you in awe. A passion project by Harlem-based Daan Frieling, this draws inspiration from a wide range of icons like The Beatles, Andy Shauf and Men I Trust to name a few. Following the release of his debut EP in 2022, Daan’s composition style and artistry has evolved a lot, but not has still got that nostalgic trace to it that makes you want to reminisce and yearn. Tapping into the fine white space between escapism and engagement, Marble Boy is bound to tap newer heights and this is just the start. Without any further ado, let’s dissect this beauty together and see what this is about.

A soft, dreamy and hypnotically beautiful song that lures your worries away like a lullaby, this is a surreal escape you wouldn’t want to wake up from!
‘Creatures of the Forest’, an introduction to the upcoming album, is a soft moment of mourning to the nostalgia and beauty of something you recently lost. Although there are a lot of different perspectives and dimensions from which this app can be viewed , this is largely a dystopian psychedelia that subtly invites you to engage with the fantasy. Recorded over a period of 3 years, this dystopian beauty was something Daan’s imagination gave birth to and has got elements of mystique, nature and esoteric ideas, perhaps welcoming a healthy debate to discuss something that’s prolonged and hidden, far away from the glance of ordinary imagination. Striking sound escapes and compelling lyricism, this is a work of art.
